December 2007: Looking into 2008
Quote of the Month
“StrikeIron stole a march on the rest of the software industry when it conceived of the Web Services
Management Platform that it now deploys. The company realized that many services, particularly information services
such as those offered by Dunn & Bradstreet, Lexus Nexus, Hoovers, etc. would eventually be made available through
mash-ups on a commercial basis (such companies just don’t publish their information under a creative commons
license.)"

Note from the President: Looking forward to 2008!
2007 has been an exciting and successful year for StrikeIron with the addition of many new
customers and partners as well as achieving many innovation milestones. For 2008, we have done a lot of planning to
continue the momentum, growth and success of StrikeIron and all of the customers and partners that utilize our data,
platform and technology as essential parts of their organization.
In 2008, we will have increased data flow with services in several new categories as well as key additions to the
lineup in existing categories, many of which we will be announcing soon after the New Year. We will continue to make
substantial investments in our infrastructure, enabling more throughpout, capacity, and additional redundancy. Both
StrikeIron and our partners will provide additional integration into several leading application platforms such as
Salesforce.com, multiple mashup platforms, and other complete solutions and vertical applications enabling our data
products to be used within the applications people are already using. There will be continued investment in our
developer community to provide more code samples, more tools, and a venue for which developers can showplace their
applications and solutions to our customers and prospective customers. There will also be key infrastructure
enhancements and external service management offerings for our data providers and our enterprise customers to publish
data sources to both public and private audiences.
Also, our partners such as Sun, IBM, BEA, and several others are investing heavily in service-related technologies
such as SOA, Mashups, and other data-driven Web 2.0 technology, and we will continue to work with them to deliver
data-as-a-service and other service-related technology offerings as part of some of the most compelling offerings in
the industry.
So as 2007 comes to a close, we wish all of our customers and partners a Happy New Year, and are looking forward
to working with you as we build on our mutual success for an exciting 2008 that is before us.
All the best from StrikeIron,
Bob Brauer

Has StrikeIron Cracked the Mashup Market?
StrikeIron, may have the answer, or to be precise, one of the answers. The mash-ups market is
not going to be a pure market. Some mashups will be born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust
upon them. But most will be ignored, or only used by Gordon the Geek and his mother.
