Super Data Pack
- Q: What is the Super Data
Pack?
A: Designed to ease the development of composite
applications, Web applications, mashups, and other data-driven applications,
the Super Data Pack provides risk-free access to dozens of different data
sources all under a single registered account. As part of the package,
StrikeIron provides access to the first 10,000 hits per month across all
of the various data sources at no cost or commitment from the user.
- Q: Is this a free trial or a paid subscription?
A: No trials are available for the
Super Data Pack Web Services. Instead, StrikeIron provides users with 10,000
hits per month free to registered users. If a
user needs more than 10,000 hits per month, they can upgrade from a
free subscription to a paid subscription.
- Q: How do I get started using the Super
Data Pack?
A: It's easy to get started! Simply hit the "Get
it" button at the top of the Product
Detail page. Register with StrikeIron and visit "Your Account" to start using any of the Web services
contained in the Super Data Pack. Your user name and password work across all
of these services, so there is no need to keep track of different license keys
or logins. You get the same consistency of usage across all services with no need
to program differently for each service.
StrikeIron also offers several
tools and services for you to evaluate and get started using a Web service.
Once you are registered, you can use the following tool:
Web Services Analyzer for Windows: The Analyzer for Windows is also available for free and
can be downloaded here. This edition provides significant enhancements in functionality to greatly
increase productivity and can also be used behind your firewalls for
searching and analyzing Web services.
- Q: Why do I have to register if the
Web services are free?
A: Because StrikeIron offers access to
multiple Web services as well as offering the first 10,000 hits for free,
there must be a mechanism in place to track the hits, and there is a data
usage agreement that must be adhered to. Most commercial Web services in the
StrikeIron Marketplace offer limited
free trials for registered users, but we also require registration to go
beyond those limited trial hits.
- Q: Can I combine Super Data Pack Web
Services with StrikeIron Marketplace Web Services?
A: Absolutely!
Simply visit the StrikeIron
Marketplace to view other commercial Web services. Most Marketplace Web
services have free trials and can be easily integrated into composite
applications with the Super Data Pack Services.
Note:
StrikeIron Marketplace Web Services are not free and not included in the
same subscription as the Super Data Pack Web Services. In addition to most
services offering free trials, StrikeIron offers a wide variety of pricing
plans for each service. Simply click on the "Pricing" button on each page to
view the pricing options.
- Q: Why do I pay for StrikeIron
Marketplace Web Services and not the Super Data Pack Web
Services?
A: Marketplace Web Services provide data that is
updated at a much higher frequency than those Web services available in the
Super Data Pack, and also contain premium data that is aggregated and
maintained by our commercial data provider partners. The Marketplace Web
Services also often provide a much greater granularity of data than is
available with similar services available in the Super Data Pack and also
comes with our technical support. All data within the Super Data Pack is
provided as is.
One of the challenges for SOA projects integrating
with external Web services is the ability to handle authentication and
transaction tracking across disparate sets of data. The Super Data Pack
provides a consistent mechanism and interface for developers and end-users,
regardless of the Web service being integrated, to quickly and easily create
robust composite applications without having to juggle multiple
authentications and to deal with inconsistent Web services
implementations.
- Q: Is support provided with a
subscription license?
A: Technical support by email is free. Support is available from 8:00am
to 5:30pm EST, Monday through Friday. Simply select the Ask Support under the Support main navigation
selection to access the form.
- Q: What if I need more than 10,000
hits per month?
A: If you need more than 10,000 hits across all
of these services, simply go to "Your Account" and
upgrade your free subscription to a paid subscription.
- Q: Can I submit additional Web Services or data to the Super Data Pack?
A: Certainly! Upon review of the service or data that is submitted, StrikeIron will make it
available to others for consumption within the Super Data Pack without any
charge to you. However, understand that once provided, the data will be
